November 14/09: Even though it says I have disappeared for November due to Nanowrimo, I am still frequently on elfwood .... go figure! But sadly I can't read much as it takes away from my writing and I already have enough ways to procrastinate without adding that to the list. So catching up on my reading to-do list shall have to wait until after November has passed. I've updated the works on the shelf info, have a gander. And hope you enjoy browsing my shelf!

I'm a 23 year old Christian who adores animals, loves to write, and will one day solve all the problems of the world! *cough* Well, the first two might be a bit of a stretch but the third is definitely true ... or was it the other way around?

I thoroughly enjoy reading comments and they work wonders to motivate my muses to finish pieces. I read and respond to every comment and love hearing your opinions on my pieces.

THE SHELF:

DESERT ROSE  Oldest project in the works and still on its first draft. I'm hoping to finish this by the end of the year. If you like deserts, tribes, and gypsies, this story is for you. Latest developments: Chapter VI B.

YSHIRA   sadly, this is all of Yshira I'm posting up. If you are a fan and would like to see what happens, e-mail me and I'll send you the chapters as they're written.

NEAR TO DREAMS  my first NaNoWriMo attempt that stopped when I became ill. I shall eventually endeavor to finish this when I have some of that elusive free time from my muses who always manage to keep me busy on other projects.

SHATTERGLASS  developed and written for Barb, a wonderful artist, writer, and good friend. Come experience the world inspired by her piece "Reflections". Update: November 15/09: I have the majority of part three written and am just waiting on a few scenes before I can post it up here.

AMBER SPYGLASS  a pirate story. Nov 09 update: Ah, I am SO unhappy with this piece so far. I don't know whether I should go back and try to re-work what I have or just scrap the thing entirely. I may have to content myself with writing one of the middle scenes to get my muses working on this and help figure out exactly what tone I'm going for in this piece. This is why it has suddenly been moved over to my 'other works' folder.

DRAGON MISTRESS   (new) Nov. 09. Currently on my 'other works' shelf until the fantasy elements appear. I am thoroughly enjoying this story so far ... or, well, I will be once I can get back to writing it after nano. For once, one of the major conflicts of the plot is revealed within the first chapter! Now that's a shocker for me! So please do go and enjoy, I can't wait to hear what people think of it!

THE LAST IGNITHIAN   (new) Nov. 09. My latest nano story, so again, I already know that there are grammatical, plot, continuity, and all manner of other errors in this piece so far. But I decided to post it anyway in the hopes of getting more inspiration for it from readers' comments. I will probably only post up until chapter 6 while I'm writing it for November and then the entire book shall get a complete overhaul and be posted once again, brand spanking new and all ready to have the grammar and plot commented on once again :),

UPCOMING:  OF THE DRAGON AND PHOENIX   I couldn't not have a story of a girl who gets to become a knight ... I've been wanting to write one of these for a long time and now it's in the works, finally! Nov. 15/09 Update: The posting of this has been put on hold as it needs more character development and plot machinations ... and now I'm not entirely sure if I'm going to be posting this on elfwood. It's a toss up between this and another piece about a woman who becomes a knight ... so many decisions! Agh!

UPCOMING:  STONE TWILIGHT  And don't be misled by the title, this has nothing what-so-ever to do with vampires. I considered changing the title but in all fairness, had the title set before I had ever read the Twilight books. Once you begin reading you will see exactly why the title fits so perfectly for this book.

Other development updates: Nov. 09. Okay, so my muses have been working in overdrive since their big bout of writer's block over the summer. King's Rider, which you may or may not know about depending on when you last visited my shelf, has now become a trilogy! Yep, I didn't see that one coming. It is fast become my favorite series to write and all of the characters (yes, even the bad guys) are becoming very dear. I am most happy that I decided to take this down off of elfwood before it became too big. If I were to ever publish anything (which is not my goal in writing, it is simply to write stories I love and share them with friends) the King's Rider trilogy would be it (along with a couple of others that have never graced my elfwood page). Of the Dragon and Phoenix is now part of a quartet of novels all designed at empowering a young female protagonist who is willing to fight to achieve her dreams (my favorite sorts of stories to read ;) ). So all in all, I have four series' planned out, totalling fourteen books! Whew! And that doesn't include all of the other singlet books and plots my muses have been developing in their spare time *laughs*. Who am I kidding, they don't have any spare time! And so I believe I have procrastinated writing long enough and must hop back to it!

Now those are going to be the only long stories that show up on my shelf .... hopefully. As long as my prolific muses stick to the plan, all should be well in the world.

Ooo! I didn’t see the Other Works tab! More reading goodness! Yay!!!!

With "dragon" in the title, I’d say the fantasy element is pretty apparent. Hmmm. 12

Edited to add: Your Nano hiatus for November should give me a good chance to catch up on my reading. Happy writing!!!!

*does happy dance*

*falls into a stack of boxes and bubble wrap*

Tee hee!

:-) Lindsay Verde replies: "*Grins* Hopefully I’m almost done the first chapter and will be able to post it up in all of its un-edited glory later on today. I fear I probably won’t be able to stay entirely away from elfwood. At least I shall reply to comments. It gives me a nice break from wracking my brain for words.

Heh heh yeah it’s a bit of a give away but it’ll become obvious in the next couple of chapters ... I think.

*joins in the bubble wrap before feeling guilty for procrastinating once again and rushes off to try and write some more*"

hey Lindsay2, i know your busy with your writings and stuff so i wont stay long but i saw that you where doing the NaNoWriMo i didnt know what it was until a friend of mine said something about it the other day, anyway it sounds really good for a writer to do, so good luck with it all. elf.w should do something for writers like they have done for artists with the comps!!

:-) Lindsay Verde replies: "Never too busy to pop on and say hi back! 1 Well, no one ever said I wasn’t a good procrastinator, lol.

Yeah, I’m enjoying nano, when I’m not pulling out my hair trying to make myself focus, lol. But it’s good, it forces me to focus on one piece. Nothing makes me get work done better than a deadline and I am determined to make the 50k this year.

There are some writers on elfwood who start groups for writing challenges. One such is the Herscher Project, of which I am a part of. That’s where An Ocean of Memories and a number of other works that aren’t up on my shelf at the moment came from. And I also started a writing group that has been inactive for the past while due to Uni, at the time. I may consider reviving it but then this way I don’t encourage my over-active muses to try and think up more stories if I don’t."

Heya, 12 Thanks for commenting on my art. 1

:-) Lindsay Verde replies: "You’re very welcome, it’s really good! 1 I’d love to see some more pieces in colour (Especially the masquerade ones 1)"
5 Nov 2009:-) Heather xx La Vampire xx Chinerry
Well, speaking of another masquerade piece I still have one more out of 3 to do so u never know that one could be in colour. 1 Thanx. 13

:-) Lindsay Verde replies: "Oooo! Let me know when you post up some new stuff and I’ll be over to comment 2"
6 Nov 2009:-) Heather xx La Vampire xx Chinerry
Sure, no problemo 1

:-) Lindsay Verde replies: "Thanks!"

Hey, what’s up?

:-) Lindsay Verde replies: "Hmmm ... the roof of my house ... the sky with an infinite number of stars and planets ... the sun 1 Seriously, not too much ... writing. You?"
13 Nov 2009:-) Kay Tabin
I posted a very small part of my Nanowrimo as revenge for posting yours!

:-) Lindsay Verde replies: "I know, *wails* I already ran over there and started reading before I could help myself! Lol. I’m going to use it as my motivation to finish my word count for today. I only read the first few paragraphs and I am not allowing myself to read the rest until I get the last 535 words for today written.

p.s. I was already loving the royal siblings by the end of the first paragraph! I love Shae Lynn’s sass! 1"
13 Nov 2009:-) Kay Tabin
Hahaha. Yeah. I love her sass, but her sass is also causing me problems because she is sassy against me and won’t follow my plans! Arg! Oh well. That is what editing is for later. I have a scene where she basically becomes a love-sick little puppy which makes it really really hard to convince her to do what I need her to do.

I will have my next part up once I finish the scene I’m working on. I don’t want to post half scenes, so I’m trying to finish scenes I have previously left unfinished. There are still going to be time jumps, but at least there will be complete scenes.

:-) Lindsay Verde replies: "Oh, I know that problem! I have a lot of it with most of my female characters ... it’s the problem with writing strong, sassy female protagonists, they think so much for themselves and are so opinionated that they won’t do what you want them to in the story. But I think my biggest challenge is with the macho men ... either they don’t come out macho, they turn out very much big softies, such as Ronan in Near to Dreams, or they are so macho that the character change into caring men isn’t believable through the story. Darn stubborn characters!

Yay, I look forward to the next scene ... now off to read your post! 1"

Hey, 3 more pieces are up now, lol. U wanted to know, unfortunately the last of the masquerade pieces aren’t one of them but there u go. There are 2 on the Other works page and one on the normal one. Also some more of my writing peices are here too. 2

:-) Lindsay Verde replies: "I’ll be right over to look at the artwork. The writing will have to wait until after I’ve finished nano. 12"
